.CONF & SPLUNKLIVE!

Congrats to the Winner of the June 2019 Karma Competition on Splunk Answers

Welcome to the monthly “Where Will Your Karma Take You” contest blog!

It’s hard to believe that Splunk .conf19 is just 2 ½ months away, and with that comes much excitement with it being many users’ first .conf, a reunion of the community for alumni attendees, and overall opportunity for learning and relationship-building. What’s awesome is 12 all-star contributors on Splunk Answers have or will be registering for .conf19 free of charge from our monthly karma contest, making their journey to the conference that much easier. Another winner will soon be revealed, making them the 11th one from the 2018-2019 contest season.

Before the revelation, there are some other awesome all stars that deserve a shoutout, and that’s our very awesome Global Events Marketing team. They have been working tirelessly for months, collaborating in full force with content track teams to make sure key milestones have been accomplished like the session catalog! This gives attendees the chance to preview hundreds of talks in advance and plan out their journey of learning and inspiration.

For the rest of us at Splunk, it feels like we’re in the eye of the storm before much of our lives will revolve around the planning and execution of .conf19. But we’re ready, willing, and looking forward to supporting the GEM team every step of the way from here on out. It takes a village of teams, individuals, and partners across the globe collaborating to make our annual user conference the best possible experience for attendees. It will be a lot of work, but seeing and hearing about users’ positive feedback makes it all worth it.

We’re looking forward to seeing our Splunk community in Las Vegas in October, so if you haven’t hopped on the registration train yet, visit the .conf19 website to get your ticket today!

And now, time for the winner reveal…

Just over 2 years ago, we only had three free .conf passes for top contributors to earn on Splunk Answers. Splunk has since come a long way, and I feel fortunate to now have the chance to award 12 winners, making each month of the year an opportunity for well-deserving members of our community to attend .conf.

The winner for the June 2019 competition period has been an active member of the community since 2014, just 6 months longer than myself actually. He has been consistently answering users’ questions on Splunk Answers, even more so in the last 2 years, now reaching a total of over 350 answers and counting! What’s great is he doesn’t just add to the technical content in the forum, but also tidbits of fun and culture too like his GoT reference in this post. :)

The time has come! The winner for the June 2019 competition period is *drum roll...* …DavidHourani! The 100+ answers you posted in Splunk Answers throughout the month of June are much appreciated, and I can’t wait to meet you at .conf19. Congratulations!

With each winner per monthly competition period comes the runners-up who also deserve acknowledgement for all their collective submissions of technical content to the community. It takes more than a single person to support fellow users around the world, so...

Major thanks to the top 5 contributors on Answers for the month of June 2019:

  1. DavidHourani
  2. jnudell_2
  3. Vijeta
  4. harshpatel
  5. gcusello

Last but not least, a shoutout to our SplunkTrust members is due for living and breathing Splunk on Answers, making our online community a positive place to engage with every day. SplunkTrustees already earn a free pass to .conf with their membership, so they are not eligible for the contest; but they continue to go above and beyond to proactively engage with users, and for that, they will always have my gratitude.

Thank you to the top 5 SplunkTrust karma earners for June 2019:

  1. niketnilay
  2. woodcock
  3. richgalloway
  4. harsmarvania57
  5. renjith.nair

A *round of applause* for our June top contributors!

One last winner for the 2018-2019 contest season will be announced, so keep on the lookout for the reveal in the coming weeks. One final skilled, helpful user will be making their way to .conf19 with their registration covered.

Cheers, and see you on Answers!
