When it comes to DevOps, Splunk and Puppet know a thing or two. The Splunk platform provides real-time insights across all stages of the delivery lifecycle—from application development, to test, to production monitoring—enabling IT teams to quickly improve the velocity, quality and business impact of application delivery. Puppet Enterprise manages infrastructure as code, providing the foundation for DevOps practices such as versioning, automated testing and continuous delivery.
You may have seen Puppet's 2017 State of DevOps report—sponsored by Splunk—which provides insights into high-performing DevOps organizations that are grappling with how to manage explosive data growth, increasing infrastructure complexity, and delivering high quality customer experiences to the business. When your organization implements a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) process, your DevOps teams must glue together a complex tool chain—one that spans requirements gathering, code management, module integration, and unit and integration testing and delivery. But all too often, these tools are used in isolation and with little measurement of their effectiveness. This ends up creating silos of disjointed information. Together, Splunk and Puppet have the capabilities to address multiple enterprise initiatives that give organizations a modern way to automate and act quickly while successfully scaling their DevOps and transformational practices across the enterprise.
Today, we are announcing two exciting integrations between Splunk and Puppet that will help customers take action on issues in real-time, powered by machine learning and automation. The new Splunk App for Puppet Enterprise lets you monitor the health of resources under management, ingest all data from Puppet Enterprise and correlate that data across your entire tech stack, as well as visualize your Puppet data using out of the box dashboards for easy troubleshooting and monitoring.
In addition, the new Splunk ITSI Module for Puppet Enterprise enables customers to trigger a Puppet job when an ITSI notable event is detected. For example, when a vulnerability is detected, customers can run Puppet to remediate the vulnerability. This integration provides a unified workflow between the intelligent insights provided by Splunk and the action and automation provided by Puppet, making it easier to keep applications and infrastructure performant, secure and compliant. You can even build an ITSI Glass Table to monitor the interaction between the KPIs you are monitoring and the automation used to maintain them.
These integrations are available now on Splunkbase and Github:
