If you read my previous post on Splunk .conf19, “#splunkconf19 Preview: Bigger Than Ever for Public Sector,” you probably know the scale of the event that we’re aiming for. For us, .conf has always been about our customers—our users. This is a forum for customers to share their success stories and spark the imagination. I’ve attended three of these so far and the breadth and innovation of some of the solutions never ceases to amaze me. You can look at the sessions we have lined up for you this year and I’m sure you’ll find quite a few that you might want to learn more about.
Of course, with over 300 sessions it’s impossible to attend all of them. As I was going through the catalog a few caught my eye, and I thought I would share them in a series of blog posts. Here are some interesting ones if you’re with State and Local agencies or Education (SLED).
As universities focus more and more on accommodating student preferences to deliver on the experiences they demand, lectures are not limited to specific times—technology now allows them to be accessible on-demand. And Monash University, an innovator in education and research from Down Under, is on top of that. They’ll be showcasing how they deliver the best experience across hundreds of streaming lectures.
As an R1 institution, Penn State University is at the leading edge of not only research but also ensuring data protection and a world-class student experience. They’re leveraging data-driven strategies through Splunk to not only secure their institution, but to also automate security actions and maximize uptime and availability of applications campus-wide. You wouldn’t want to miss this one.
Oh, and here’s something different for you—wouldn’t you like to know how data-driven insights can help with sustainability efforts at aquaponics facilities? Then the session from Seattle University is right up your alley!
Delivering services is the cornerstone of any government agency, and if you’re with state and local agencies, top-notch customer service is key (if you don’t want to end up in the news). That’s why the State of Michigan session is one you won’t want to miss. Using Splunk ITSI, Splunk Mobile, Splunk TV and VictorOps, their IT leaders are getting ahead of issues with predictive capabilities, reducing compliance loads by 50% and keeping their customers happy.
A community thrives when its economy grows and a key aspect of that is transportation. With the Olympics coming up and being a major gateway to the Pacific, Los Angeles World Airport is on a mission to be the gold-standard airport—they’ll speak to how they’re improving efficiencies and reducing service disruptions as part of this goal.
This is just a small sampling of sessions, but hopefully you get the idea. Don’t forget to review the session catalog or use one of the learning paths already curated for you by experts at Splunk.
Hope to see you in Las Vegas in October!
Until next time,
Ashok
