.CONF & SPLUNKLIVE!

Congrats to the Winner of the July 2019 Karma Competition on Splunk Answers

Welcome to the “Where Will Your Karma Take You” contest blog!

The year has gone by so quickly, and as some of you know, July was the last round to earn a free pass to Splunk .conf19 on Splunk Answers. While we bid adieu to the last pass, you’ll find us and many other teams at Splunk HQ preoccupied with the organization and forethought of this conference. We hope you’re getting excited about it too! It’s been quite a ride and rush being involved with this community. We love that you love what you do so much that your passion has become fuel toward your mentorship and helpfulness on Splunk Answers. This tool wouldn’t be as encouraging if it were not for the community that it consists of—our thanks and kudos to all of you!

For those of you gearing up and making plans for .conf19, there is some fun news to share. SplunkTrust selections are happening this month! It is well known (or not, maybe you’re new!) that many of our beloved SplunkTrust members are always present at .conf each year, and you’ll notice these wearers of the fez wandering the halls, source=*Pavilion, breakout sessions, Search Party, and other areas of the conference. We’re happy to say that once again we will have an induction ceremony during the Welcome Soiree to formally announce the new and returning members of the 2020 cohort. Make some time to stop by to congratulate and meet some of our all-star users that take that extra bit of effort to guide and mentor the community!

And speaking of stars, one SplunkTrust member (you may have seen him around Slack or Answers), martin_mueller, is undertaking a now annual Splunk project. After quite some time hearing feedback on Splunk, I can say the one thing our community loves is the versatility of the platform. The use of it spans far and wide, for both serious and fun interests. So, what is it that martin_mueller has been up to? He’s been collecting and tracking reference numbers of registered attendees leading up to .conf19, then indexing that data to do a year over year comparison with .conf18. A true representation of our community members who love Splunk both in and outside of work - keep up the Splunk shenanigans!

And now, the awaited competition winner...

We’ve seen some major effort from this user, only joining Splunk Answers this past January! They’ve spent their time last month answering and supporting others on the Q&A forum - and now, they’ve earned a free pass to .conf19 for earning the most karma points.

For the final month of the 2018-2019 Splunk Answers karma contest, the winner is... vnravikumar!!! Congratulations!

Although there can only be one winner, vnravikumar wasn’t alone in his efforts helping fellow users. You know what they say, it takes a village to raise a child…err… I mean to help an online community. But seriously, without all these awesome people contributing their time, there would be a lot of Splunkers struggling to get that regex just right.

Here are the top five karma rankings for the month of July 2019:

  1. vnravikumar
  2. gcusello
  3. jawaharas
  4. tiagofbmm
  5. jaime.ramirez

Let’s not forget those pioneering this community with their super Splunk knowledge and technical brains! Give it up for our SplunkTrust of 2019! *clap* *clap* *clap* Our SplunkTrustees already receive a free pass to .conf with their membership, so they are not eligible for the contest, but we’d like to recognize all the (mental) heavy lifting they do in our community.

Here are the top five SplunkTrust karma rankings for the month of July 2019:

  1. woodcock
  2. niketnilay
  3. richgalloway
  4. renjith.nair
  5. somesoni2

This community never ceases to amaze us with all the passion, devotion, and knowledge they share on all things Splunk. If you didn’t get to snag a free pass for .conf19, we still hope to see you there! Registration is still open, so hop on the train before spots fill up. :)

We hope to see your involvement during the Answers karma contest for the new 2019-2020 season that started on August 1st, 2019. Best of luck!
