Welcome
So much has happened at Splunk during the last couple of quarters.
We launched our new 3.0 product that simply loaded with great new features and capabilities. We've added some really impressive new partners Netcordia, TriGEO and Uptime, bringing the total ecosystem to more than 30 OEM, VAR and SI partners. We had a banner second quarter adding 94 new customers, and upgrading 17 existing customers to higher data indexing levels, bringing our total number customers to more than 350. We crossed the 100,000 user download mark, which is a major milestone for us after only 18 months of product availability. We've grown our staff by more than 40 percent and we're hiring more super smart people all the time.
It's an exciting time at Splunk. And we want to keep you informed about our product upgrades, company news, tips and tricks and just generally make sure you know we want to hear from you.
Happy Splunking,
Michael Baum, CEO

We announced GA on August 6th at LinuxWorld in our hometown, San Francisco. More than 2500 users downloaded Splunk 3.0 during the beta, applying IT Search to problems beyond the scope of log management and troubleshooting.
New interactive filtering and dashboard features in Splunk 3.0 let you apply the full power of IT search to security, compliance and performance management. New data input options help customers see further than logs into configurations, messages and metrics across all the components of a modern IT infrastructure.

Did you know you can get Splunk to run monitoring commands like top, iostat or vmstat on your OS for you on a schedule, then graph the output to get performance charts?
For example, we're indexing top every 5 seconds on our demo server.
Follow this link to see the raw output as splunk search results:
The below search works on the top output and uses some of 3.0's new advanced commands to pull apart the tabular output of top then graph statistics by time.
Note: you can log in to the demo server as guest/guest.
