Continued Adoption and Upgrades Result in Accelerated Path to Profitability; New Round of Industry Awards Demonstrate Value of IT Search
SAN FRANCISCO – July 15, 2009 – Splunk, the IT Search company, today announced yet another blockbuster quarter, this time for its second quarter results, ending June 30, 2009. The company closed its strongest quarter to date, with the addition of 113 new customers, bringing the total customer count to over 1100. Splunk's growth was distributed across all sectors (financial services, electronics, manufacturing, high technology, education, retail) and geographies (North America, EMEA, APAC), and included prominent new customers such as Deutsche Bank, Siemens, Credit Agricole, iContact, Duke University and Fry's Electronics. Splunk's bookings growth and speed passing the 1,000th customer milestone are added testaments to the value of IT Search and the critical role it's playing within IT organizations.
"Our success this quarter across all geographies and sectors underscores the fact that Splunk delivers users tremendous value and is making a profound impact in managing, securing and auditing IT," said Splunk President and CEO, Godfrey Sullivan. "In the midst of a challenging economic environment, Splunk is thrilled to have passed well beyond the 1000-customer mark." He added, "Our record growth and the ongoing management of our expenses have enabled us to accelerate our goal of profitability in 2009."
In addition to Splunk surpassing the 1000th customer milestone in Q2 '09, Splunk CTO and co-founder, Erik Swan, was named as a recipient of the prestigious IDG InfoWorld CTO 25, an annual award that honors chief technology officers who demonstrate leadership within their companies and in the IT community. This honor demonstrates Splunk's commitment to a "by the people, for the people" approach to developing technology, further validating the company's innovative position as the pioneer of IT Search.
"It’s no surprise that the people behind Splunk’s technology are being recognized for their efforts," added Sullivan. "Erik is certainly deserving of this honor, our technology advantage is a direct result of his ability to innovate, to build strong teams, and to carefully listen to the voice of our customers."
Among other noteworthy accomplishments for Splunk during Q2 '09 were honors awarded by SC Magazine. Splunk received a "five out of five" rating in the SC Magazine Group Forensics Product test, being highlighted for its ease-of-use, support and return on investment.
