Splunk Named a Winner of the TiE50
Splunk Outshines 1,200 other Nominees; IT Search Earns Further Validation by an Esteemed Panel of Corporate Executives, Domain Experts, Entrepreneurs and Venture Capitalists.
SAN FRANCISCO – May 20, 2009 – Splunk, the IT Search company, today announced that it has won a 2009 TiE50 award, a highly influential list of the hottest and most promising startup companies across five segments -- Internet Infrastructure, Wireless, Cleantech, Software, and Consumer Web. The TiE50, which was presented at this month's TiEcon 2009, honors the top 50 startup companies that are leaders in innovation, ingenuity, and show excellence in management.
"The concept behind Splunk is simple, if Google can make it possible for users to search billions of pages of Web content, why not apply that same principle to the datacenter? Splunk is the only company that does this and we do it really well," said Godfrey R. Sullivan, President and CEO, Splunk. "As a result, IT Search has emerged as an indispensable technology that provides organizations with the ability to understand what's really happening across their entire IT infrastructure."
Over 1,200 nominees competed for the honor and the TiE50 judging process included meticulous screening and judging by a list of over forty prominent entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, corporate executives and other domain experts, as well as voting by the wider segment community. TiE50 winners are diverse in terms of size, progress, maturity and location. However, each winner shares a common thread of innovation, ingenuity, strong management teams and overall quality of ideas.
"All of this year's winners embraced TiE's message of the bold entrepreneur," said Mateen Syed, TiE50 Chair. "The judges were impressed by the quality of ideas and execution across each vertical segment. These fifty companies represent the finest in entrepreneurship and serve as role models, encouraging and inspiring emerging start-ups to succeed as Bold Entrepreneurs stimulating the economy."

TiEcon 2009 is two action-packed days of rich dialogue, networking and deal making with thousands of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, industry executives, and thought leaders.
