The company beat its sales forecast for the quarter by 38 percent, and is at 50 percent of its forecast for the year.
During the quarter, Splunk added 94 new customers and upgraded 17 existing customers to higher data indexing levels, bringing the total number of paying customers to 340. The Splunk Powered partner program has seen continued growth as well. Three new OEM partners -- Netcordia, TriGEO and Uptime Software, have joined the Splunk family in Q2, bringing the total ecosystem to more than 30 OEM, VAR and SI partners.
"IT Search has opened a completely new world of information for our users and customers" said Michael Baum, Splunk’s CEO and co-founder. "IT, security and compliance professionals around the world are waking up to a better way of turning the terabytes of data trapped in their IT systems into valuable information to find and fix problems, detect and investigate security breaches and comply with audits, laws and mandates. The more users Splunk, the more applications they find. We’ve really focused on making it is easy to download, install and use for data from any application, server or network device."
Splunk’s IT Search innovations take advantage of the time series nature and highly unstructured form of IT data. By making it possible for humans to interact with terabytes of machine data, Splunk is changing how increasingly complex computing environments are managed, secured and understood.
