Splunk Wins 2007 CODiE Award

IT Search Engine Creator is Honored as the "Software Newcomer of the Year"

Splunk Wins 2007 CODiE Award

SAN FRANCISCO - May 1, 2007 - Splunk, creators of the original IT Search engine, today announced it has been named "Software Newcomer of the Year" by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). Software Newcomer of the Year is a prestigious category within the SIIA's annual CODiE Awards honoring "the best new software or software services company whose product or service has the potential for significant impact on the industry."

IT Search is a new approach for information security, systems availability, compliance, and business analysis. Splunk's IT Search engine crawls through a modern IT infrastructure and indexes all data logged by applications, servers and network devices across the data center to provide IT with visibility into exactly what's going on in a datacenter across every machine and piece of software.

"I applaud all the companies selected as winners or finalists in the 22nd annual CODiE Awards," said Ken Wasch, SIIA President. "The software and information industry continues to move at a dizzying pace, and being recognized by your peers for getting to and staying at the head of the pack in such a dynamic environment is a major accomplishment. It is one of the reasons why the CODiE Awards hold such a special place in our industry."

Winners of the 22nd annual CODiE Awards were chosen from more than 1,197 nominations for the excellence of their products, services, corporate leadership and philanthropy. Judges for the first round of voting included journalists from industry trade publications, technology writers from mainstream publications, consultants and other industry experts. SIIA member companies then voted in the second round of selection.

This award is one of a number of recent industry accolades for Splunk. In April Splunk won both the Info Security Products Guide 2007 Global Excellence in IT Search Customer Trust Award, and Government Computer News' Best of FOSE Award for Network Administration. In February, Splunk received the Datamation Product of the Year Award for Compliance Software. Splunk also won the InfoWorld 100 Award for cutting-edge troubleshooting implementation and the Computerworld Horizon Award in 2006. In addition, Splunk was named one of Gartner's "Cool Vendors in IT Operations Management."

About IT Search

IT infrastructure today is more complicated than ever. At the same time, security, privacy and compliance controls throw up barriers to visibility into runtime environments and make it hard to see what's actually happening. IT Search can help make sense of the chaos. An IT search engine crawls through a modern IT infrastructure and indexes all the data logged by applications, servers and network devices across the data center. Splunk turns all IT data into actionable information. Security analysts, IT operations, compliance staff, auditors and senior management can now see across every component in the data center and gain an up to the moment understanding of what's happening.
