Splunk Continues Momentum in Q3 Adds 120 New Customers
Company Also Upgrades 41 Existing Customers; Godfrey Sullivan Joined as New President and CEO to Lead Global Expansion
SAN FRANCISCO October 15, 2008 Splunk, the IT Search company, today announced results for the third quarter of 2008 ending September 30. The company added 120 new customers and upgraded 41 existing customer deployments to higher data indexing levels. The most active industries contributing to the quarter were online services, telecommunications and education. New customers include General Electric, eBay, Magna International, and LinkedIn.
This quarter also brought the appointment of Splunk's new President and CEO Godfrey Sullivan, former President and CEO of Hyperion Solutions. The addition of Mr. Sullivan comes at a time when Splunk is expanding all aspects of its business. In addition to expanding its North American operations, Splunk reached 60 customers in EMEA and appointed Brian Haynes as Vice President Sales, EMEA. During the quarter Splunk added three new Asia-Pacific resellers Systex, Unixpac and Digital Networks Australia (DNA). The Systex agreement covers distributor rights across 8 Asian countries including dedicated sales, marketing and support people focused on building Splunk’s Asian business. The three new partners bring Splunk's global ecosystem of OEMs, systems integrators, VARs and managed service providers to over 50.
The third quarter also saw the introduction of Splunk for VMware™, extending Splunk's powerful IT Search capabilities to include indexing of VMware’s virtual infrastructure data. Now IT professionals can easily get real-time visibility across their IT infrastructures including virtual environments.
"In addition to adding this quarter significant new customers such as GE, eBay and Magna International, we added to our list of global partnerships, and launched a new product," said Godfrey Sullivan, President and CEO, Splunk. "The value Splunk customers derive from IT Search is the driving force behind our success and the key to our future growth, regardless of the geography or adverse economic conditions," said Sullivan.
