You can install Splunk as a LightWeightForwarder on your remote servers and configure them to run the Splunk for Unix app to sample iostat, vmstat, prstat, and so on and then forward the results back to a Splunk index server.
Look in our online documentation for "forwarding and receiving". The Splunk for Unix app ships with Splunk version 4.x.
That link you posted does not work could you repost it for me? I am also looking to use splunk to replace munin but would like to know mre about how this can be installed/managed.
