I'm trying to get Eventlog to Syslog (guy from Purdue created it years ago) to spit data at Splunk for Windows. As soon as anything sends data splunkd immediately crashes. In fact, as a whole, splunkd is pretty unstable. I can get it to crash by sending brutal searches at it.

The biggest whiner is msvcr80.dll v 8.0.50727.1433 on my XPSP2 test machine and msvcr80.dll v 8.0.50727.762 on my 2003R2 SP2 x86 Standard test machine. If there are any splunk logs you'd like I can make them available.

Thanks
-Brian

I guess I should ask what version of msvcr80.dll are you building Splunk with?

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) (vcredist_x86.exe) is 8.0.50727.762. .NET 2.0 SP1 seems to plunk down msvcr80.dll v8.0.50727.1433.

As you mentioned we use: name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50727.762"

How does the data that you're sending look like? Is it binary? or just plain text...

Thanks Brian,

Ledio

Brian, we released a new preview couple days ago where we have fixed a known issue with UDP processor.

Can you give it another shot and let us know how it works?

Thanks,
Ledio
