SplunkBase

SplunkBase is a one-stop shop for the IT Search community to investigate and solve problems in their IT infrastructure. Through this platform you can ask questions of other IT professionals, learn how to better tune, manage, and understand the firehose of IT data you're faced with on a daily basis, look up and share IT events and their descriptions, and interact with technology experts who can offer their own experienced perspectives on products that you may not specialize in.

So, the next time you find yourself staring at an unfamiliar error and the company is going to flounder if you don't get it fixed, don't panic! Look for the answers at www.splunkbase.com.

Ask or Answer

Need help understanding an IT event? Having problems getting Splunk or another IT product to do what you want? SplunkBase offers a Question & Answer section for those who need to send up a flare for help, along with those who want to share their own knowledge. You'll also find HOWTOs for those cases where longer writeups are more helpful. Since HOWTOs are wiki pages, you can easily correct mistakes and add your own tips as well.

Understand Your Events

Are you a Splunk user? You can look up IT events on SplunkBase directly from your Splunk server. With Splunk's universal event classification technology, users with the same event type but different environments land on the same SplunkBase page. Other users may have added tags to the event that you can download into your Splunk server. Within the wiki description, you may find a description of how someone else solved the same problem, and you can add our own thoughts as well. You can even set up alerts and be notified when there is new information on an event.

Add it On

If you're looking to enhance Splunk with add-on downloads, then SplunkBase is the place to be. Dashboards, fields, event types, inputs, alerts, searches, reports, skins, custom processing, scripts, SplunkWeb extensions, transactions, clients, third-party plugins, and just about any configuration setup you can think of can be shared in add-ons. Whether they're provided by Splunk or shared by users like you, bundles are the key to making Splunk into exactly the tool you need.

Become a Recognized Technology Expert

Over time, as community members show that they are a guru in a particular area, they have a chance at becoming the Expert for that topic. Topic Experts are recognized leaders in their fields that others can turn to with questions and for advice.

Interested in becoming an expert? Contact experts@splunkbase.com with information about the areas you're interested in and your qualifications.

Add Your Product to SplunkBase

Splunk also welcomes companies and product developers to add help and troubleshooting information for their own software into SplunkBase.

Keeping a Low Profile

SplunkBase allows each user to maintain their own profile. If you want to allow other users to connect with you, share your contact information and experience in your profile so users researching related events can find you. Share as much or as little as you like.

You can automatically anonymize any data you share with SplunkBase.
