Known Issues in this Preview

This section contains known issues and workarounds for this Preview release of Splunk.

Caution: Preview is not meant for production. You can't upgrade a prior GA Splunk release to a Splunk Preview, and you won't be able to upgrade Preview to the next GA release. The features of Splunk Preview are still under construction, and some older features may not work.

General issues

• This version of Preview does not support upgrading from an earlier Preview version; you must uninstall the earlier Preview version and install this one before proceeding.
• You may see text in Splunk Web with "TK" preceeding it; this content is marked for review by the documentation team.
• You may experience some inconsistent behavior when accessing SplunkBase to browse for or install applications via the Applications page in Splunk Web. You may be required to re-log in to Splunk Web.
• Some applications may not download correctly from SplunkBase when using the Application Management feature in Splunk Web.
• Show source does not work in Splunk Web.
• index=sampledata may not yield any results.
• This version of Preview is not available on the AIX platform.

Windows-specific issues

• Stopping or killing the splunk-regmon.exe process manually can cause system instability. Stop Splunk using Splunk Web or from the command line instead.
