Dashboard customization

To add and customize dashboards in Splunk Web, edit a copy of the prefs.conf configuration file. Before you do this, make sure you read the documentation about configuration files for information about best practices and procedures for editing configuration files.
Create a new dashboardSplunk recommends that you create a new dashboard if you want to customize content on a dashboard.
Add items to a dashboardIf you want to add items to a dashboard, you can edit the default dashboards that ship with Splunk, but Splunk recommends that you create a custom dashboard instead.
