Splunk Hits Q1 Sales Forecast; Launches Splunk for PCI Compliance App and Developer API

Splunk Proves Critical As IT Budgets Get Squeezed

SAN FRANCISCO – April 8, 2008 – Splunk, the IT Search company, today announced results for the first quarter of 2008 ending March 31. The company hit its sales forecast for the quarter even as IT budgets get squeezed in an uncertain economic environment. The company ended the quarter with more than 600 enterprise, service provider and government agency customers.

The most active industries contributing to the quarter were online services, telecommunications, financial services, and government agencies. New customers include MySpace, Verizon, Bloomberg and the National Geospatial Agency.

"The challenge of understanding what's happening in increasingly complex datacenters is evident, especially in the current economic climate. The need to do more with less is driving demand for disruptive new approaches like Splunk," said Michael Baum, Splunk’s CEO and co-founder. "New technologies like virtualization, unprecedented compliance scrutiny and pressure to become more power efficient are forcing our customers to adopt a better way of managing their infrastructures."

The first quarter also saw the introduction of the Splunk Platform and developer APIs enabling customers and partners to create their own IT data applications, easily distribute their applications, and download applications created by anyone in the Splunk ecosystem. Splunk also released its own PCI Application providing enterprises the ability to easily and cost effectively comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
