To get started Splunking, you need two things:
Open the URL to your Splunk Server in your browser.
A Splunk Server with the default free license looks like this.
If the server has a Splunk Professional license installed - either a paid license or a free trial license - it will prompt you for a username and password, like this:

Your system administrator may have changed the password and/or assigned you a different username.
prodemo.splunk.com is configured with this login:
The upper left hand corner of the home page lists the number of events the server has indexed. If it says "0 events," the server probably has no data inputs configured yet.
To start indexing data into your Splunk Server, click the link to Guided Setup on its home page. Follow the step-by-step instructions.
